In it, he gives the full range of his teachings on the practice of the Buddhaâs craft, from the observance of the five precepts to the attainment of total liberation. Thus the different parts are written for different people at different stages in the practice, and the reader is advised to read, not judgmentally, but judiciously—taking whatever is useful for his or her own practice, and leaving the rest for others. Read online ## Download Options - epub (536.2 kB) - azw3 (316.1 kB) - pdf (1.5 MB) - kobo (560.6 kB) - Help: "Which format do I need?" - The EPUB format is suitable for most e-readers, except Kobos and Kindles. This includes most e-reader applications on mobile phones and tablets (e.g. Apple's iBooks, various apps for Android), and on desktops (e.g. Calibre). - Kindle owners will generally want the AZW3 format. Unfortunately, AZW3s cannot be sent with Amazon's Send to Kindle service and need to be sideloaded via USB. Some have tried using Send to Kindle to send EPUBs, but with mixed success. - Kobo owners will want kobo's "KEPUB" format, which is a version of the EPUB format optimized for Kobo e-readers. ## Table of Contents - Cover - Title Page - Copyright - Foreword - Introduction - Training in Virtue Toggle subsection - Precepts for Lay People - The Service for the Lunar Sabbath - Virtue: Questions & Answers - Concentration: Questions & Answers - The Craft of the Heart Toggle subsection - How to Practice Concentration - On Taking Refuge in the Triple Gem - On the Four Immeasurable Sublime Attitudes - On Radiating the Sublime Attitudes - On the Rewards of the Four Immeasurables - On Practicing Concentration - On the Four Postures - The Five Hindrances - The Six Propensities - The Two Themes of Meditation - Methods for Attaining Tranquility - Mental Phenomena as a Theme of Meditation - On the Mindâs Levels of Becoming - Two Levels of Concentration - On the Meditation Syllable - The Five Forms of Rapture - Two Kinds of Vision - Jhṅna - The Three Skills - The Eight Skills - The Four Forms of Acumen - Exercises for Insight Meditation - The Seven Stages of Purification - The Nine Stages of Liberating Insight - Turning the Mundane Path into the Transcendent Path - The Path to Once-Returning - The Path to Non-Returning - The Path to Arahantship - Saṃgaha-Diṭṭhi - Glossary - Dedication ## Cover image - --> - - - -
